Quito, the capital of Ecuador, sits on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano, an elevation that is part of the Andes Mountains and allows its inhabitants to enjoy a privileged climate by balancing the warm equatorial winds while producing a perfect breeze that is enjoyed throughout the day.
A part of the majestic Pichincha is called Cruz Loma, and it has been the scene of important geographical changes and historical moments that have marked us, such as the “Battle of Pichincha” on May 24, 1822, decisive for the independence of Ecuador. In addition, Cruz Loma was the basis for the measurement carried out by the geodesic mission, despite the many difficulties they had to face with the native peoples of the region.
Cruzloma has the shape of a cross, which makes it unique and emblematic for all of us who live surrounded by the Andean mountains. Visiting it, breathing its air and enjoying its magic and mystery, makes it an unforgettable place of ours.
