The Royal St. Robert cuvee is dedicated to our grandfather Robert Mondavi, who taught us to be committed to excellence. Our 2016 RSR cuvee comes from the true Sonoma Coast behind Bodega Bay and is a marriage of special lots that we feel are the best in our cellar. This wine opens with wild strawberries, crushed bing cherries, and rose petals that fill the bowl with sweet resin, white tea, thyme, forest floor and wet rock. The texture is rich, complex and leads to a long sumptuous finish.

96 - James Suckling
Intense aromas of dried strawberry with stone and mineral undertones. Medium to full body with tight, firm tannins and beautiful length and depth. This needs three or four years to come together. Try after 2023.
93 - Vinous
Raen's 2018 Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert is a fabulous introduction to these wines. Airy, gracious and beautifully perfumed, the Royal St. Robert is especially lifted in this vintage. Intense floral, savory and spice notes give the 2018 striking aromatic presence. The 100% whole clusters are evident, but also nicely layered into the wine's fabric. This is an especially ethereal style. I would prefer to give the 2018 a year or two in bottle, as it is a bit clenched, especially on the finish. Drinking window: 2022 - 2030
91 - Robert Parker
Medium ruby, the 2018 Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert has slowly opening aromas of red berries, cranberries, woodsmoke, cola and earth. The palate is light to medium-bodied and earthy with a grainy frame and great freshness, finishing long.
