Critical Acclaim
JS92 – James Suckling
This blend of carmenere and syrah shows plenty of blue fruit and blackberries with hints of lavender, too. Medium-to full-bodied, tight and chewy with an aftertaste of gun metal and dark berries.

A red blend from Apalta in Colchagua, the 2016 Vertice Apalta Vineyard is always approximately the same percentage of each grape, and in the cool and rainy 2016 vintage, it comes through as very spicy with the Carmenere dominating the aromatics. I tasted this next to the 2017, two vintages that are very different, and the grapes were picked with a week of difference. This is 13.8% alcohol and has good freshness, a medium body and a lively mouthfeel. It’s linear and long. 30,000 bottles produced.
